Priming

1. Connect the appliance to the main supply.

2. Press the flag corresponding to the desired language and confirm the selection by pressing “Done”. Now follow the instructions indicated on the display of the appliance:

3. Remove the water tank and fill to the MAX line with fresh water.

4. Then put the tank back and confirm by pressing “Next”

5. Fill the beans container, then confirm by pressing “Next”.

6. Insert the hot water spout on the accessories connector and place a container with a minimum capacity of 6,76 fl oz/200 ml under the coffee spouts and hot water spout.

7. Press “OK” to fill the water circuit. The appliance delivers water from the hot water spout.

8. At the end of delivery, the appliance proceeds to warm up by performing a rinse cycle, delivering hot water from the coffee spouts.

When at temperature, the appliance proposes a tutorial on how to use the machine.

Please note:

 

• The first time you use the appliance, you need to make 4-5 cappuccinos before the results in the cup will be satisfactory.

• The first time you use the machine, the water circuit is empty and the appliance could be very noisy. The noise becomes less as the circuit fills.

Lights and alarms

Descaling alarm stays on after the cleaning cycle has finished

If a customer tries to descale their unit and, at the end of the process, the alarm is still active, it is likely that they did not do all the steps or the cycle was interrupted.

The descaling process is different on all machines. Refer to the manual for the model

 

If the customer completes the descaling process. They need to redo the descale process.

Advise them that they can only use water for the second time and only use about 3 inches of water to speed up the process. However, they must COMPLETE the cycle.

 

NOTE: Descaling and keeping the unit clean is very important to its operation and longevity.

If the unit is not kept clean, it will likely stop producing a great cup of coffee.

Unit is showing an error message “Please add your preferred pre-ground coffee". - max: one measure

Preparation with pre-ground coffee has been selected.

Make sure the funnel (A4) is not blocked, then add one level measuring spoon (D2) of preground coffee, press “Next” on the display, and follow the instructions in section “9.4 Making coffee using pre-ground coffee”.

Unit is showing an error message “General alarm: Please refer to user manual”

It means that the inside of the appliance is very dirty.

The customer has to clean the unit following the instructions in the manual.

Unit is showing an error message “Fill the beans container and press “OK” to resume brewing”

The coffee beans have run out.

Fill the beans container (A2) and press “OK” to resume brewing

Steaming issues

Not Frothing

  • Check that the settings chosen are correct for the drink you are making.

  • Make sure cold milk is used to produce the best froth.

  • Make sure your carafe and carafe lid are clean.

Refer to the manual on how to disassemble the lid and clean it.

Coffee issues

Coffee doesn't flow

Perform a rinse function.

 

Use this function to deliver hot water from the coffee spouts (and, if inserted, the hot water spout), to clean and heat the appliance’s internal circuit.

Place a container with a minimum capacity of 3.38 fl oz/100 ml under the spouts.

To enable the function, proceed as follows:

1. Press the settings menu;

2. Display “Rinsing”

3. Press “OK” to start delivery. After a few seconds, hot water is delivered to clean and heat the appliance’s internal circuit;

4. To stop rinsing, press “Stop” or wait for rinsing to stop automatically.

A. If  water is coming out

  • The ground coffee may be too fine; adjust the grinder coarseness settings.  The grinding coarseness adjustment knob must only be turned when the coffee grinder is on.

  • There is too much ground coffee. Make sure the grinding is set to the right amount.

B. If no water comes out:

  • Make sure the water tank is fully inserted and has water.

  • Make sure the coffee spout is clean.

  • Make sure the brewing unit is clean or clean it.

The coffee comes out too quickly/ No crema on my espresso

Possible Causes:

  • The coffee is ground too coarse.

Adjust the grinding to the finer settings

The coffee comes out too slow or dripping

Possible Causes:

  • The coffee is ground too fine

Adjust the grinding to the coarse settings

Cold Coffee

If a consumer calls and their coffee is not Hot, they can try the following:

  • Preheat the cups by running them under hot water before using the rinse cycle on the unit. This will also warm the system

  • Check the manual for a temp setting and change the setting if the unit allows

  • The unit may not show a descale message, but if the unit is clogged, that may affect temp.

 

NOTE : Ensure the consumer understands Espresso coffee is not as hot as drip coffee. Espresso is meant to be drunk as a shot, not a large cup of coffee.

Grinding issues

The grinder is grinding too long or too short

Do an encoder reset and do 3 or 4 espressos in a row; the grinder should start to self-adjust.

Infuser issues

My unit has coffee grounds inside of the unit

If using pre-ground coffee:

  • Make sure you use only one scoop

  • Make sure you add it at the right moment.

If using beans:

  • Make sure the brew unit is clean

  • Make sure the piston is moving freely

  • Do the encoder reset?

Infuser is stuck / Can’t remove stuck infuser

  • Make sure the machine is correctly turned off. Make sure there is no movement and then turn the unit back on.

  • Turn the unit off again.  Do not open the door, pull the drip tray or turn it on, until you hear no sound and the cycle has stopped. The infuser should now be back in place.

Descaling

1. Press the settings menu icon on the homepage.

2. Scroll through the menu items until “Descaling” is displayed.

3. Press “Start” to enter the guided descaling procedure.

4. Press “Start” to begin.

5. Insert the water spout.

6. Remove and empty the drip tray and coffee grounds container, then put both back in the appliance and press “Next”.

7. Remove the water tank, lift the lid and (if inserted) remove the filter. Empty the tank completely.

8. Pour the descaler into the tank up to the level A marked inside the tank (equal to one 100ml pack), then add water (33.81 fl oz / 1 l) up to level B. Put the water tank (with lid) back in the appliance and press “Next”.

9. Place an empty 67.62 fl oz / 2 l container under the spouts. Press “Next” to start descaling (“Back” to go back to the previous screen or “X” to exit the procedure, remembering to remove the descaling solution from the tank)

 

Important! Danger of scalding

Hot water containing acid flows out of the spouts. Take care to avoid contact with splashes of this solution.

 

10. The descale programme starts and the descaler liquid comes out of the hot water and coffee spouts. A series of rinses is performed automatically to remove all the scale residues inside the coffee machine;

After about 40 minutes, the descaling action ceases;

11. The appliance is now ready to be rinsed through with clean water. Empty the container used to collect the descaler solution. Remove the water tank, empty, rinse under running water, fill with fresh water up to the MAX level and put back in the appliance. Press “Next”.

12. Place the container used to collect the descaler solution empty under the spouts and press “Next” to start rinsing.

13. Hot water is delivered from both the hot water spout and coffee spouts.

14. When the water in the tank has run out, empty the container used to collect the rinsing water.

15. Extract the water tank and put back the water softener filter if  removed previously. Press “Next” to continue.

16. Fill the tank with fresh water up to the MAX level, put back in the appliance and press “Next” to continue.

17. Place the container used to collect the descaler solution empty under the spouts and press “Next” to start another rinsing cycle.

18. When the water in the tank has run out, empty the container used to collect the rinsing water, remove and empty the drip tray and grounds container, then put back in the appliance.

19. Extract the water tank, top up to the max level, put back in the appliance and press “Next”.

20. The descaling process is now complete”. Press “OK”. The appliance performs a rapid preheat cycle and then goes back to the homepage.

 

Please note:

 

• If the descaling cycle is not completed correctly (e.g. electrical power failure) it is advisable to repeat the procedure;

• After descaling, it is normal for the grounds container to contain water.

• If the water tank has not been filled to the MAX level after descaling, the appliance prompts for a third rinse to ensure that the descaler solution has been completely eliminated from the machine’s internal circuits. Before starting rinsing, remember to empty the drip tray.

How to do the ENCODER RESET function

  1. The appliance must be plugged-in and in stand-by mode.

  2. Remove the water tank.

  3. When the request to insert the water tank prompts on the display, touch the four corners of the screen in the sequence.

  4. Insert the water tank.

  5. Select the option “RESET ENCODER” to activate the procedure for the encoder reset.

 

NOTE: The appliance will stay in test mode for a limited time if no actions are made.
