Entering the wrong code in sales organization SAP

Did you know that entering the wrong code in the sales organization when creating an order in SAP could cause the order to go to the wrong warehouse even though you have selected the correct plant?

Yes! This has become a common mistake, and we should avoid it as we shouldn't ship from the US to Canada unless it has been approved

Let's dive deeper into this mistake:

Customer Chris, who lives in Mountain View Drive, Sun Peak, Canada, reached out to us since FedEx delivered his PACEX390LVYN-6A, WH damaged. The agent went ahead and created the replacement order for our valuable customer, but at the time the agent started, he forgot to change the sales organization code from DUS1 to DCN1.

DUS1 - US orders

DCN1 - Canada orders

This step will decide whether the order will ship from the US or Canada from our different warehouses (plants), DNJ1, DCA1, or DON1.

Following the replacement order, the agent filled out the order section with accurate information (Cus ref, information, material, quantity, and plant)

So... why did this order create an escalation with our Operation & Transportation Manager?

At the time, our agent did not change the code in the sales organization "DUS1" for a Canada order; even when the agent selected the correct plant "DON1," this order was not delivered to the right person but to our Operation & Transportation Manager in the US.

Now we are not just delaying the delivery of the replacement we offer to our valuable customer, which is 3-5 business days, but we need to create a new order.

Please be mindful to always verify that the code in the sales organization matches the country of the warehouse.
