If the unit has this issue: Issue – Cx calls in because the unit is stuck on descale for 8 hours
DO NOT send the unit in for repair. First, check to determine if the black floater is missing from the water tank. If the floater is missing the descale process will NOT work. Order the customer another tank from Encompass. We want to avoid sending units in for repair for the black floater missing from the tank. In December, we had four units sent in for repair due to a missing floater in the water tank.

If the customer calls in stating that coffee is not flowing from the portafilter or the pressure gauge is going past the optimal zone into the red. You must first complete the following basic troubleshooting steps. We have sent five units in for repair due to a clogged filter basket.
Remove the filter basket and have the customer brew without beans to ensure that water is flowing through the portafilter
Inspect the filter basket to determine if It is a pressurized or non-pressurized filter basket
The filter basket pictured below is pressurized.
Instruct your customer to remove the diffuser. This is the circular disc pictured above. Use the tab and a cloth to make it easier to remove
Once the diffuser is removed, connect the filter basket to the portafilter and have the customer brew without coffee to determine if water is flowing and the pressure gauge is not going to the red zone.
If water is flowing, this means the filter basket was clogged with coffee grounds
If water does not flow, have the customer use a safety pin to try to clear the pin-size hole in the filter basket
